Mikko Seppänen

Mikko Seppänen, MD, PhD, is an adjunct professor (docent) of Internal Medicine at University of Helsinki and a specialist in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, with decades of clinical and research experience in Clinical Immunology. He is currently the director of HUS Helsinki University Hospital Rare Diseases Center and leads an AI research project, which aims to create AI algorithms to facilitate early diagnosis of rare diseases with failure demand, including (glomerulo)nephritides, vasculitides and myositides. The created clinical decision support algorithms, designed by HUS researchers and TietoEvry Data Scientists will enter prospective testing during spring of 2025, and will result in recall of patients.
